I am a 41-year-old native of Clendenin, Kanawha County, West Virginia. My husband, Jason, and I raised both of our children, 25-year-old Kaitlyn and 26-year-old Jay, right here in Kanawha County. Raised by my father who retired from Dupont and my mother, a homemaker, I come from humble beginnings. I have never run for public office. I am not a politician. I worked my way through college and law school. I graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 2001 and continued my education at West Virginia State University where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
After graduating from WVU College of Law, I had the privilege to work for The Honorable James “Jim” Stucky as a judicial law clerk. Judge Stucky, also a former prosecutor, introduced me to public service and taught me about the court system and the importance of doing what is right and what is fair. I am grateful for the lessons he taught me. I currently work as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Kanawha County Prosecutor, and former United States Attorney, Charles “Chuck” Miller, and I am humbled that he has endorsed me in this election. A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Chuck Miller trained me to work hard for Kanawha County and to represent crime victims.
For years, I’ve prosecuted some of the most violent criminals in West Virginia. I’ve prosecuted murderers, rapists, gang members, child abusers, and many others. My goal is to keep our children and our families safe from violent criminals. I am a prosecutor with convictions, literally and figuratively. I am a proud Republican who believes in the rule of law. I believe our children should be able to walk down the street without being subjected to sexual predators, drug dealers and violent repeat offenders. While I have obtained an abundance of legal convictions against some of the County’s most vile offenders, I also have strongly held moral and ethical convictions. Convictions about what is right and what is wrong; convictions that have shaped my values and continue to guide me in all aspects of my life.
