Career Highlights

SOME OF THE CASES THAT DEBRA HAS PROSECUTED

  

  1. Marcus Young was charged with the murder of Terrell Davenport. Young was tried and convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life without mercy. The case was upheld by the West Virginia Supreme Court and Young will spend the rest of his natural life in prison. 
  2. Jayrionte Thomas was also charged with the murder of Terrell Davenport. Thomas pled guilty and was sentenced to life without mercy. The case was upheld by the West Virginia Supreme Court, and Thomas will spend the rest of his natural life in prison. 
  3. Richard  Smith was charged with 20 counts of first degree sexual assault, first degree sexual abuse, and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian. The victim in this case was an infant. Smith was convicted on all 20 counts and sentenced to 205-775 years in prison. The case was upheld by the West Virginia Supreme Court, and this monster will never harm another child.
  4. Jeffrey Phipps was charged with 25 counts of first degree sexual assault, first degree sexual abuse, and display of obscene material to a minor. The victims in this case were two young boys, ages 5 and 9 at the time of the crime.  Phipps was tried and convicted on all 25 counts. He was sentenced to 165-665 years in prison. The case was upheld by the West Virginia Supreme Court. Phipps will spend the rest of his life in prison where he can never harm another child.
  5. Juan Chic was charged and tried for the murder of Andre Leonard, use and presentment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Chic was sentenced to life without mercy for the murder, 10 years for use and presentment of a  firearm during the commission of a felony and 3 years for being a  prohibited person. He will spend the rest of his natural life behind bars.
  6. Dekotis Thomas was charged with the murder of Capital High School student KJ Taylor. Thomas pled guilty and was sentenced to life without mercy.  He will spend the rest of his natural life in prison.
  7. Tiffany Priestley was convicted of first degree robbery after she robbed an employee at Tammy’s Coffee House. Priestley was sentenced to 60 years in prison. 
  8. Brian Barnes was charged and convicted of first degree sexual assault, first degree sexual abuse, and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian. The victim in this case was a very young child. Barnes was convicted and sentenced to 120-380 years. He will never again harm a child. 
  9. Myles Brown was convicted of 5 counts of wanton endangerment and sentenced to 35 years in prison.  
  10. Donald Wurster was convicted of first degree arson and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was sentenced to 16-20 years in prison.
  11. Isaiah Hughes was convicted of malicious wounding, use and presentment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and wanton endangerment. He was sentenced to 17-27 years in prison.
